Medical Alert for Landlines and Rural Homes
No cell signal at the house. No Wi-Fi. No smartphone, and no interest in getting one. That combination rules out most medical alert systems sold today. It does not rule out ours.
Why this is getting harder to find
Most of the industry has moved to cellular-only equipment, because it is simpler to ship and it works for the majority. If you live somewhere the signal drops at the end of the driveway, that majority does not include you, and a cellular system is not a cheaper option, it is a system that will not work when it matters.
The Home Link runs on your landline. $30.95/mo, or $27.95/mo with bank autopay. It does not need cellular coverage, Wi-Fi, broadband or a smartphone. It plugs into the phone jack and a wall socket, and the pendant reaches 600 to 1,000 feet from the base, which covers most houses, yards and outbuildings.
Rural distance is the real argument for this
When the ambulance is twenty or thirty minutes out, the minutes before anyone even knows to call matter more, not less. Someone who falls in a farmhouse at nine in the morning and is not expected by anyone until evening is the exact situation this exists for. The system does not shorten the drive. It removes the hours of nobody knowing.
What to check at your address
- Is the landline a real copper line, or internet phone? If your phone service comes through the cable or internet company, tell us. It often still works, but it behaves differently in a power cut and we will set it up accordingly.
- Does the power go out often? The base station has a backup battery. Worth knowing how long yours typically last.
- How far is the furthest place they go alone? The barn, the mailbox, the back of the property. If it is beyond about 1,000 feet, a mobile system is the honest answer instead, and we will say so.
If there is no landline and no cell signal, no medical alert will work there, ours included. We would rather tell you that on this page than take an order and have you find out.
If you want fall detection too
The Home Link with Fall Detection is $35.95/mo, or $31.95/mo with bank autopay. Same landline connection, with a pendant that calls for help on its own when someone cannot press the button.
