Who we are

Help Now Medical Alert is a division of Bay Area Vital Link, Inc., a California corporation that has been answering emergency calls since 1981. Our address is 6529 Telegraph Avenue, Oakland, CA 94609.

These terms, and your agreement

These terms cover your use of this website. Your medical alert service is governed by the Help Now Medical Alert System Agreement that you sign when you order. Where the two differ, the signed Agreement controls.

What the service is

We provide a medical alert system and 24-hour monitoring from United States response centers. Press your button and a trained operator speaks with you through the device and sends the help you need. Equipment is provided at no cost as part of your monitoring service and remains our property.

What the service is not

We would rather be honest about the limits than have you find them in an emergency:

  • A medical alert system does not prevent falls, injuries or emergencies.
  • No fall-detection technology detects every fall. Always press your button when you can.
  • The system depends on power and on cellular or landline service. If those are out, a signal may not reach the response center.
  • We cannot control how quickly emergency services respond once they are called.
  • This service is not a substitute for calling 911.

Pricing

  • Service is month to month with no minimum term and no contract.
  • We do not raise the rate on an existing customer.
  • Bank autopay is priced lower than card. Quarterly billing takes $1 off each month, annual billing takes $2 off each month.
  • Veterans and Meals on Wheels recipients save $5 every month.
  • We match any competitor pricing. Call us with what you found.

Cancelling, and returning equipment

You may cancel at any time. Billing continues until the system is returned or paid for. The full detail, including the 30-day money-back guarantee, is on our Return Policy page.

What we ask of you

  • Keep your emergency contact list and phone numbers current with us.
  • Test your button monthly.
  • Charge a mobile device daily so its battery does not run out.
  • Tell us if you change or cancel your landline, or install DSL or VOIP service.

Liability

The limits on our liability are set out in your signed Agreement, including a limitation of the amount we can be liable for. Please read that document before you sign it. If you want a copy at any time, call us and we will send one.

Changes

We may update these website terms. Changes to your service terms are made through your Agreement, not this page.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
